SoluForm MSE Soil Filled Bagwork is a prefilled, nutrient-rich topsoil geotextile bag system designed for mechanically stabilised earth constructions. Ideal for riverbank protection, slope stabilisation, and retaining walls, it combines ease of installation with enhanced ecological benefits. Featuring smaller, easy-to-handle dark green bags and integrated shear keys for stability, it promotes rapid vegetation growth to strengthen and green vulnerable earthworks naturally.
We process and dispatch orders promptly and keep you informed throughout the delivery process.
SoluForm MSE Soil Filled Bagwork represents a proven, environmentally sustainable solution for mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) constructions such as riverbanks, embankments, slopes, retaining walls, and ecological restoration projects. This system utilises geotextile bags prefilled with high-quality, BS 3882:2015 compliant sandy topsoil, designed for optimal drainage and nutrient content. These soil-filled bags work in combination with specially designed spiked shear keys or pins placed between rows to prevent slippage and maintain structural integrity over time.
Why Choose SoluForm MSE Bagwork?
Prefilled Consistency and Quality
Delivered ready-to-use, our bagwork ensures consistent soil quality, reducing onsite variability and eliminating the need for manual filling. This guarantees uniform product performance and compliance with strict ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards.
Smaller, Easier to Handle Bags
The bag dimensions are carefully designed with length nearly double the width, enabling better rotation and tighter, more consistent wall formation. Smaller bags also improve manual handling safety and ease onsite installation.
Superior Soil Composition
Bags are filled with nutrient-rich, free-draining topsoil, promoting vegetation establishment and enhancing biodiversity, as well as soil stability. This sets SoluForm apart from competitors using lower-grade or less suitable soils.
Eco-Friendly and Aesthetic Design
Unlike typical black or beige bags, SoluForm bags are dark green, blending better into natural environments and giving an immediate vegetated appearance, aligning with the goal to “green-up” riverbanks and slopes quickly.
Reliable Base Foundation
For underwater or wet applications, SoluForm recommends starting with our concrete-filled bagwork as a firm, clean, and environmentally safe foundation. This contrasts with common alternatives like gravel or rock rolls, providing a more durable and secure base for soil-filled bags.
Applications
Riverbank and embankment protection and restoration
Slope stabilisation and erosion control
Retaining walls and landscaping features
Habitat enhancement and biodiversity promotion
Civil engineering projects requiring low-impact, sustainable earthworks
Assembly Instructions / How to Use SoluForm MSE Soil Filled Bagwork
1. Site Preparation
Clear and level the installation area.
For underwater or wet locations, install a stable foundation of SoluForm concrete-filled bagwork to ensure a secure base.
2. Placement of Soil-Filled Bags
Position the prefilled soil bags in staggered rows, ensuring the bags are tightly butted together to avoid gaps.
Rotate bags as needed to achieve the desired wall width and shape, leveraging the bag’s rectangular dimensions.
3. Installation of Shear Keys / Pins
Insert the provided spiked shear keys between the rows of bags to lock them in place and prevent slippage.
Ensure that shear keys are evenly spaced and fully embedded for maximum structural stability.
4. Vegetation Establishment
The primary goal is to encourage natural planting within and on the bagwork to enhance strength and habitat value.
Planting can be done via:
Hydroseeding: Spray seed and mulch mix immediately after bag placement for rapid germination.
Live Planting: Insert plugs, live stakes, or plants into joints and gaps between bags.
Covering: Apply topsoil and seed, turf, or pre-vegetated mats over the bagwork for immediate greening.
Seeded Fabrics: Use seeded geotextiles where appropriate but ensure regular watering.
5. Aftercare and Maintenance
Water the planted areas regularly until vegetation is established, especially during dry or hot conditions.
Avoid installing during extended dry spells if irrigation cannot be guaranteed.
Routine monitoring and maintenance will help ensure long-term success of vegetation and structural performance.
